Heparin is a high-risk medicine. Which heparin products have you got on the ward? Make sure you use the right strength.

Heparin comes in a range of strengths from 50 units per ML to 5000 units per ML ampoules.

  • Make sure that only the strengths needed are on the ward.
  • Store high concentrated products in secure areas.
  • Use premix supplies where available.
  • Use the right product.
